A rope around my neck, rub up against my throat. Squeeze words out and drain down my cheeks in little rivulets. Choke on words I’ll never say. Lexis drip, slide away. I can’t speak. Suffocate on words I want to say. Why can’t I speak whenever I talk about you? Eyes downcast, cheeks pallor flushed with red hue, words stutter out; what to do? Lungs don’t work, asphyxiate on the air. Run your fingers through my hair, I can’t take in the crisp air. Why can’t I breathe whenever I think about you?
