Summer Dreams

School is out, the pressures gone,
The boys and girls are laughing,
And feelings brew; become strong.

The girls are looking for hands to hold,
The boys are looking for lips,
Testosterone is making the guys quite bold,
Estrogen has girls shaking hips.

Smiles shine brightly, reflecting pure white,
Skin shimmers in the sun,
Summer flings begin to take flight,
They all are searching for fun.

What is summer without this?
A nice cool swim,
A sun-set kiss,
Ice cold tea filled to the brim,
And a wish for it to never end.

Butterflies in fields and stomachs,
Meeting everyday at dawn,
Falling faster; the whole world plummets,
Lying with him or her on the lawn.

Dreaming nightly of that summer love,
Dwelling in its lovely depths,
Rain showers falling like tears from above,
The sight of them stealing your breath.

The first sweet kiss upon the beach,
Showing all of those painful scars,
A secret want, an urge to reach,
And give the one you love the stars.

What is summer without this?
A blooming want,
A lover's bliss?
What would summer even be,
Without the thought of you and me?

And so we dream of holding hands,
Of making friends,
Of traveling lands,
Of sweet and sour cold ice drinks,
Of forming never breaking links,
Of driving with the car top down,
Of spreading chaos around the town,
Of making love,
Of wilderness,
Of every single tiny kiss,
Of colors bright,
Of beams of light,
Of loving them,
And them loving you,
These are the things we wish to do,
When summer comes and love is new.
