So blinded are we, by what we wish to see,
Our minds make up lies to protect us,
We shut out the bad, see only the good,
We follow their lead without a fuss.
They sit there, looking so appealing,
Looking like heaven on earth,
Lust is such an over powering feeling,
We sometimes can't tell fact from truth.
Lust is interpreted as love,
And all flaws disappear,
The lies held above,
Where we cannot hear.
So blinded are we, by what we believe,
That we ignore the important facts,
We make up the truths, our feelings deceive,
We hold reason behind our backs.
When they smile or laugh,
Charm us with what we want,
Leading us down a deceitful path,
Their good attributes they flaunt.
They hide all their flaws, and if they don't we ignore,
For we wish to have love and compassion much more,
We change our values, and we make sure to stay blinded,
While smiling, their lies keep us tightly binded.
So blinded are we, by what we can see,
That we much too often don't see what we can not,
The truth will come flooding the world like a sea,
Too late, for now we are hurt; our heart has been shot.
The smile they wore,
Was nothing more,
Than a trick to lure us in,
And once we are trapped,
The fangs come out,
To ruin thoughts of what would have been.
Set up too fall too hard, too fast,
Set up to believe a lie,
And once enough time has come to pass,
We are dropped, never learning how to fly.
