As I grow older,
And I fill with stress,
The world seems to become colder,
And I begin to view life as one big mess,
I find myself becoming bolder,
And I feel innocent less and less.
As I grow wiser,
I notice more of life's negatives,
I find myself becoming a liar,
There seems to be less positives.
Things that used to look so bright,
Are being shaded,
Losing their light.
The trust I once gave everyone,
Is now held back, I'm hesitant,
All the lovely things that once were fun,
Seem to wilt, become less pleasant.
My head is filled with much more doubt,
There seems to be no clear cut answer,
The things my childish voice once so naively shout,
Turn to lies, as deadly as cancer.
My sunny outlook on my life,
Has faded, becoming less bright each day,
I recognize hurt, pain, and strife,
I know that people betray.
There are complications, things that ruin,
Smiles are less frequent the further I grow,
Half the time I don't know what I am doing,
Do I have a purpose? I donâ??t know.
Things that used to look so bright,
Are being shaded,
Losing their light.
I'm growing away from innocence,
Each day the world becomes more real,
My eyes grow weary, my body tense,
I no longer view reality as my ideal.
