We had sex,
And it wasn't bliss,
It wasn't romantic, full of love,
It wasn't togetherness.

We had sex,
And all that it was,
Was ecstasy, just like a drug,
A pure hormonal rush,
I couldn't get enough.

We had sex,
It became all we were,
Staying with each other,
Because of the pleasurable lure.

We had sex,
We were not ready for it,
We weren't in love, we barely knew each other,
Our personalities didn't fit.

We had sex,
Over and over again,
That's what kept us together,
We thought it'd never end.

But sex got old real fast,
And we had no feelings towards on another,
Our lust, it didn't last,
And now we search for something better,
Separately.

We could've waited longer,
Not gotten pulled into the addiction,
We could've built a relationship,
Instead of choosing sex as our mission.

Lust fades, it never lasts,
Love seems to stay longer,
We could've held fast,
Not to sex, but to each other.

COMMENTS FROM ME, THE AUTHOR OF THIS POEM:
This poem is about my friend. Her relationship with her, "boyfriend, " was purely sex and nothing more. I know that they both regret it now. They ended up breaking up, because they got bored with each other. What they fell in love with was not each other, but sex. What they had was lust, not love.

just_barely_me: You know, I usually don't like "Comments from the author" or something to that extent that tell exactly what a poem is about. It takes away the imagination aspect of it for me. But this time it didn't really bother me. Good job.
