The sound of your heart,
Beating in my ears,
As my head lays on your chest,
The tears that drop onto my cheeks,
A reminder.

You blame yourself and it's not right,
You need to smile,
You need to fight,
For me,
Please, I would do anything.

To see that smile on your face,
Erase those tears,
To take all the blame,
And place it on me.

Your heart is heavy filled with grief,
I want to cure it,
I rock you, crying, to sleep,
I hear you.

Your breathing rattled and askew,
Tonight this is nothing new,
I want to hold you,
I want my love to be enough.

As you cry,
You blame yourself,
For what's happened to us,
It isn't your fault babe,
I'm the one to blame,
Wipe the tears away,
And smile again,
Just smile again.
