"The brightest star in the sky
is not always the biggest.
You touched so many lives
without saying a word.
Your strength is an inspiration.
You are our hero.
... Love you Peanut."
As I am writing this,
I am sitting next to your grave,
feeling your presence,
knowing you're here, too.
There are not words
that could describe
how much I love you,
and how much I miss you.
Those letters enscripted
on the back of your stone,
they are true.
You are our hero.
I come to see you
almost everyday.
I talk and talk,
not even sure if you're listening.
It has been an entire year
since you left this Earth,
but it seems like only yesterday
I was looking at your smile.
I saw your mommy today.
She looks braver and braver everyday.
In a few months
you will have a little sibling.
Someday I will see
those big blue eyes again,
and I will know
that you've listened.
Sometimes I wish that you were here
so I could watch you grow,
but it is better that you are safe;
at home, in God's arms.
-- I wrote this poem to my baby cousin Luke who died at 18 months old on September 1, 2006. His mom is pregnant again and is about 6 months along. So far things are healthy. God Bless Her.
