Sitting on a sheet of ol’ burgundy butterflies
With elbows propped on a coloring book
Crayons dulled—they scream “come back”
And eyes are fading into cheeks worn pale
Into a shiny blue powder, they do
The former spilling onto a lil’ creased hand
Janitor of this graying box
Slowly cleans their nectar-sprayed wings
Seeing the clock move up a mile
With a sketch of Sandy and Travolta’s love
Pushed, she is to dance without care
Needs no request from Sanity Fair
And PATTER, TAP, SHUFFLE, SWISH
Feet on the carpet like a honeymoon lost
In time, the door stretches to the right
Where the wind chimes blow—klutzes with glass
Enter the Dragon, this gray gravel river
Inching forth along the blades
And PATTER, TAP, SHUFFLE, SWISH
Holding tight to a relic of today
Thread to a blanket for piglets in sleep
Glaze of fluffy pottery, much oral bliss
Tint to the train tracks of preteens’ teeth
Glowing flight of a flashlight parade
Icing the walls of that box just departed
Though corroded with shriveled protests
Escaping and hitting the river’s ripple
Wax displaced, remnants sharp
For years without screaming “please come back”
Tickle-Me-Pink, clear, worn-out, but nothing Compared…
