The Road.....

i'm walking down this road
not turning to look back
against all that i know
every pain that's in my past

i've seen words soft spoken
cause so many needless tears
and break hearts yet unbroken
instilling tortured fears

parents try as they might
to guide their children's growth
never sharing the light
of the love they should of known

so kids turn to their "friends"
to fill in the hole they have
doing drugs just to fit in
or getting high so they can laugh

i've watched kids pick up the bottle
and end up on the floor
adults who play the lotto
in illusion for something more

i've met people on the streets
with smiles without end
i asked them what's the beat
they point to jesus "he's their friend"

i've heard of most religions
along this road of strife
and most of them are missing
the truth to give them life

so many wasted prayers
on so many godhood's false
who are'nt there to even care
if their follower's are lost

but through life i've thought alot
about the purpose we achieve
in the ending of our days
and the beginning of our peace

the truth was brought to light
by a love that overcomes
the sin of evil plight
was purchased with the blood

the son of god did give
in ransom for our souls
so that we may truly live
lives for him that show

i tried one last attempt
and prayed to this father god
acknowlegding my sin
and the fact that i was bought

it didn't happen then
or two weeks on down the road
but between that now and then
his love he truly showed

by faith i know it's true
he died and was ressurected
he died for our sins too
he wants us no more to be neglected

he died and rose again
and overcame the world
the world that's full of sin
is in his eye's an oyster's pearl

he proclaims life over our souls
and death unto our flesh
for his truth is all i know
that withstands every test

so ahead i'll pace my walk
to forward preach the light
as many will come to talk
and walk on the Road to Life
